American hard-rock outfit Limp Bizkit has cancelled its concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Wednesday night due to terrorism fears.
A statement issued by the band’s management to Universal Music Singapore, the band’s record label here, yesterday read: ‘Due to recent State Department warnings of increased security risks, Limp Bizkit reluctantly decided to cancel upcoming concert appearances scheduled for Bali, Indonesia, Manila, the Philippines, Singapore and Bangkok, Thailand. ‘The band wish to extend their deepest apologies to their fans in South-east Asia and promise to return to perform once security for their fans can be assured.’ Mr Michael Hosking, director of concert promoter Midas Promotions, received word of the no-show at 9 am on Tuesday. ‘There are no financial disputes whatsoever. The band’s fees were paid upfront 100 per cent two months ago,’ he said. He sensed something was amiss when Limp Bizkit’s technical crew did not turn up as planned at Changi Airport on Monday night, even though the band’s equipment had already arrived and was ‘locked up somewhere at the airport’.
